Moose
Moose
are hunted exclusively in our 1800 sq. mile British Columbia hunting area
with most hunters harvesting a Canada moose in the 50"-60" range.
Hunters have their choice of either utilizing bow and arrow or rifle
to harvest these enormous animals as our moose are hunted during the rut,
from late August to late September, so close shots are often times
realistic.
Spot
and stalk hunting techniques are traditionally utilized with the opportunity
to stand hunt over natural mineral licks and watering holes a possibility as
well. Our moose are usually hunted in the willow flats and high mountain
valleys between 4500 and 7500 feet so leave your waders at home, this is
a hunt you won't want to miss!
Weather during August and September in the mountains of British
Columbia is traditionally very mild with daytime temps in the low 50's
with evening temps dipping down to below the freezing mark. We traditionally
see some snowfall during this time of year as well, however,
accumulations are usually limited to just a couple of inches.
Moose
are either hunted from one of our remote camps with separate, heated
hunter and guide cabins, main dining cabin and heated shower cabin or from a
remote tent camp with heated canvas wall tents. Transportation to and from
the hunting area is by 4x4 truck, ATV or horse depending upon camp location
and hunter preference.
